Solnitsata — the prehistoric salt town
The salt that built a town
More than 7,500 years ago, people here turned brine into a prized prehistoric commodity. An early fortified settlement grew around salt production.
The salt-production centre dates to 5600–4350 BC. Archaeological work continues; visits are guided and depend on site conditions.
